St. Croix, 2007

December was spent in St. Croix. This is a wonderful island for a visit - the diving is great, as well as, hiking, shopping and touring the island. At 84 square miles, the island is easy to get around so rent a car. For lunch, we really enjoyed Turtles Deli (share a sandwich - they are huge). For dinner, Bogey's was fantastic. We also enjoyed Lobster Reef Cafe, Rumrunners and the Brew Pub. We enjoyed our stay at Carambola Resort which is located on the historical scenic drive - it is really close to Cane Dive Shop and Bogey's. Take advantage of a catamaran over to Buck Island - it is a great

Nicaragua Vacation, Morgan's Rock 2007

I spent Thanksgiving traveling to Morgan's Rock in Nicaragua. Morgan's Rock is an Eco-Lodge covering 1,800 acres along the coast about 20 miles from San Juan Del Sur. It is about 3 hours from Managua, as well as, Liberia Costa Rica. It is a very interesting experience crossing the border between Costa Rica and Nicaragua and it helps to have a little assistance or to speak Spanish. The property of Morgan's Rock is self contained having their own fruit farm, livestock, vegatable gardens, dairy farms. As a result, the every meal was absolutely wonderful. In addition, Morgan's Rock has planted 1.5 million trees as part of a reforestation project. The rooms are lighted by solar power providing warm showers and lighting at night. The 15 amazing rooms are nestled into the dry forest providing amazing views and wildlife right outside the windows. During the stay, I had the opportunity to dive with Scuba Shack and visit Masaya Volcano and National Park, Apoyo Crater Lake, Grenada and a...

Cozumel, August 2007

I stayed at the Playa Azul on the North side of the Island. The underwater photos were taken at Palancar Gardens, Punta Tunish, Palancar Bricks, Yucab located on the South Side. The North side visits included San Juan & Barracuda. To dive the North side requires a stamp from the Harbor Master and a certification above Open Water I due to the strong currents. The little town of Cozumel has some great fresh seafood - check out Pancho's Backyard & El Capi Navigante for dinner.

St. Lucia Vacation, 2007

The St. Lucia vacation starts in Anse Chastenet, a hotel built by Troubelesky. It is meant to take you back to a simpler time, with no a/c, tv, radio or clock. We were acclaimated within the day and spent the time diving and laying on the beach or snorkeling at the nearby reef. The half day Northern tour to Castries (Island Capital) is perfect as it gives you just enough time for sightseeing, shopping and lunch. The food is good at the hotel, but I highly recommend going into town for dinner. We dine at "The Green Room" and "Bang" (which has a show included with dinner on Wednesday night.) Also recommended was "Camila's" and "Ladero". The pictures below are my first attempt at underwater photography with a camera rented from Scuba St. Lucia (if you are a diver, use them - they are great!).
St. Lucia is highly recommended for those who enjoy diving, hiking, biking or just laying on the beach all day. If you like the quiet laid back atmosphere, I recommend Soufriere over Marig...
